Journal Sections
Articles
This section will publish original and unpublished works, with the usual structure of a scientific publication. They may be research articles as such or essays of thought that make an original and significant contribution to utopian studies.
Papers submitted must not be under review by another journal at the time of submission, nor be publicly available in any format.
Articles should be between 8000 and 10000 words in length, including footnotes, tables, figures, final bibliographic list, title and abstracts.
Papers may be submitted in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, Catalan, Galician or English.
Papers will be peer-reviewed by at least two specialists, using the double-blind system, and their acceptance will be conditional on their opinion and the approval of the Editorial Board.
All articles must include a title, abstract (100-150 words), keywords (maximum 5) and source of research funding. The title, abstract and keywords are required in the original language of the article and in English.
A maximum of five authors per article is allowed. Each author must be identified by name and institutional affiliation.
Special Issues
Some issues of the journal may include a monographic dossier made up of five or six scientific articles on the same subject and preceded by a presentation by the coordinator(-s) of the dossier.
The articles will be of the same length and have the same characteristics as those indicated for the Articles section. They will be submitted for peer review by at least two specialists, using the double-blind system, and their acceptance will be conditional on their opinion and the approval of the Editorial Board.
The presentation of the Special Issue will have a maximum length of 3000 words and will not be subject to external evaluation. It will be signed by the person(s) coordinating the Special Issue. The coordination of the Special Issue may be the responsibility of one or two people, who may or may not be authors of articles in the same dossier at the same time.
In order to publish a monographic Special Issue, a proposal must be submitted beforehand, which will be evaluated by the Editorial Board. The proposal, supported by the person(-s) who will coordinate the dossier, must include a general title of the Special Issue and a brief explanation (up to 1000 words) justifying the interest of the monograph. The journal's Editorial Board may accept the proposal, reject it or negotiate its structure, title and contents with the coordinator(-s).
The people coordinating the Special Issue may choose whether they prefer to launch a Call for Papers to complete the index of articles that make up the dossier, or to present a closed proposal with the full details of the articles. This proposal will include: titles, authors and abstracts of the contributions (100-150 words each). It is also possible to propose a fixed core of a small number of articles, and expand them to complete the dossier through a Call for Papers.
Calls for Papers for Special Issues may respond to proposals received and approved by the Editorial Board, or be launched on the Journal's own initiative.
In any case, the Special Issues should finally be composed of 5 or 6 articles, all of which will have been subject to anonymous external peer review with a double-blind system.
The Special Issue must guarantee a certain gender parity and diversity of academic affiliations; preference will be given to Special Issues that also present a diversity of geographical origin and disciplinary dedication of their signatories.
Book Reviews
The journal publishes reviews of monographs or collective books related to the field of utopian studies and published in the last three years. Each review will have only one author. They may refer to a single book or to several at the same time.
The length of the reviews will be between 1500 and 3000 words.
Texts submitted to the Book Reviews section will not be subject to external evaluation, but will be evaluated directly by the Editorial Board.

The maximum length of the texts published in this section will be 10000 words.
